COVID-19 crisis may create opportunities for software development

The COVID-19 crisis has affected the European outsourcing market. Still, developments are promising for software development providers. The pandemic has emphasised the importance of digital transformation, stimulating demand for IT-solutions. Many companies do not have the in-house knowledge and skills to develop these tools. We thus expect the need for reliable outsourcing partners to increase.

Lockdown highlights the need for software development services

On a global scale, COVID-19 has disrupted business. Outsourcing providers have also been affected. During the pandemic, CBI published a study on how to respond to COVID-19 in the IT and Business Process Outsourcing sector (ITO/BPO).

The study showed clients cancelling non-essential activities. Clients also moved their outsourced tasks back in-house. Some even put their software development projects on hold.

What is application modernization?

Application modernization is the practice of updating older software for newer computing approaches, including newer languages, frameworks and infrastructure platforms. This practice is also sometimes called legacy modernization or legacy application modernization.

It is the software development equivalent of renovating an older home to take advantage of improvements to efficiency, safety, structural integrity and so forth. Rather than retiring an existing system or replacing it wholesale, legacy modernization extends the lifespan of an organization’s applications while also taking advantage of technical innovations.

Why modernize legacy applications?

Application modernization enables an organization to protect its investments and refresh its software portfolio to take advantage of contemporary infrastructure, tools, languages and other technology progress.

Think Like A Data Analyst: Three Tips For Asking The Right Questions

Twenty years ago, critical questions about a business — such as how to increase the number of sales leads in order to grow — were largely answered anecdotally, based on the beliefs and experiences of people in key leadership positions.

Though many companies would’ve preferred to use data when making major business decisions, the process of collecting and analyzing it was too complicated and expensive for many organizations.

In the past two decades, we’ve seen major advancements in data technology, with the introduction of a slew of new tools to help with data logging, ingestion, storage, transformation and consumption. As a result, we can easily and affordably track more information about all aspects of the business — support tickets, orders, web traffic, product usage, market segmentation, customer profiles and more.

Understanding Generation Data

We have come to know of various generations from the G.I. Generation all the way to the centennials, or Gen Z. But have you heard of “Generation Data” (Gen D)?

IDC coined this term as a new market for folks in digital marketing to connect with “the population of people in organizational roles that work with and/or have a dependency on data in their daily activities.” This is a generation of people who know how to create and consume massive amounts of data, especially through mobile and social channels, among others. So why is this topic of addressing Gen D important for marketers right now?
